Max Lee, PharmD

Associate Director of Pharmaceutical Intelligence

Max graduated with a PharmD from Pacific University in Hillsboro, OR, where he sparked an interest in non-traditional career pathways focused on drug development and the business of healthcare. He moved on to complete a PGY-1 managed care residency at Premera Blue Cross, a regional health plan in Seattle, WA.

During his residency, Max gained valuable skills in crafting drug coverage policies that align with evidence and promote utilization of cost-effective therapies. His longitudinal research helped highlight health disparities within the sickle cell disease community and offered payer strategies to address barriers to affordable and high-quality care through collaboration with patient advocates, clinicians, and caregivers.

Max now serves as the Associate Director of Pharmaceutical Intelligence at the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review (ICER). By overseeing the topic selection process for ICER reports, he continues to shine a spotlight on novel drugs in development within key disease areas to help inform policy decision-makers.

Max hopes to continue promoting affordability and access as a core theme throughout his career. In his leisure, Max enjoys playing music and competitive sports.
