Carmella Bocchino, RN, MBA

Carmella Bocchino is President and CEO of CRB Strategies, LLC, a Washington-based consulting firm offering strategic operational and policy services to a wide range of health care organizations. As a registered professional nurse, former hospital administrator, and health insurance industry expert, Ms. Bocchino brings decades of front-line expertise to the clinical and policy challenges facing today’s health plans, hospitals and health systems, care providers, and pharmacy benefit providers.
Ms. Bocchino currently serves as Senior Advisor to the Executive Team at America’s Health Plans (AHIP). Prior to this role, Ms. Bocchino held a series of senior management roles over two decades at AHIP, culminating as Executive Vice President for Clinical Affairs and Strategic Planning. Under Ms. Bocchino’s leadership, AHIP became the nation’s leading authority on strategies for streamlining health plan operations, developing care delivery and payment reform models, and advancing an interconnected health care system.
A nationally recognized expert, Ms. Bocchino’s clinical and public policy expertise is regulatory sought out by federal and state policymakers, think tanks, clinical advisory boards, employer groups and health care organizations. She currently serves on the Governance Boards of two non-profits, the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review (ICER) and the Health Care Cost Institute (HCCI). Throughout her career, she has served on more than a dozen advisory committees, including the Business Group on Health Executive Committee on Value Purchasing; the National Academy of Sciences Institute of Medicine for the Study of the Medicare End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD); and two Robert Wood Johnson Foundation advisory panels focused on electronic health records (EHRs).
Ms. Bocchino holds a master’s degree in business administration from Rutgers University, an undergraduate degree in human resources management from Upsala College and a nursing degree from Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing. Prior to her positions in health policy and executive management, Ms. Bocchino held administrative and clinical positions in critical care medicine and renal replacement therapy.
