Stephen J. Kogut, PhD, MBA, RPh is a Professor at the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy, where he directs the Health Outcomes track of the Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and is former Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice. Dr. Kogut began his professional career with the former Harvard Pilgrim Health Plan of New England, where he contributed to the development and implementation of managed care pharmacy protocols. He was project manager for the Study of Clinically Relevant Indicators for Pharmacologic Therapy (the SCRIPT Project), a national effort of the Coalition for Quality in Medication Use, sponsored by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Dr. Kogut served as an expert panelist for CMS in its efforts to define quality measures for the Part D drug program, and for the National Quality Forum’s National Voluntary Consensus Standards for Therapeutic Drug Management Quality. Currently he is Director of Tracking and Evaluation for Advance-CTR, which serves as a central hub to support and educate clinical and translational researchers in Rhode Island. He is a former member of the R.I. Board of Pharmacy, a member of the R.I. Medicaid Drug Utilization Review Board, and a member of the Board of Directors for Healthcentric Advisors, the Medicare-contracted Quality Improvement Organization for New England.
